Susan is a writer par excellence. She holds a Master’s degree in English and has been teaching composition and literature at the college level for 16 years. She joined Academode four years ago, because, as part of a team that evaluated admissions essays, she realized that students were not prepared to present themselves well in writing. As a result, otherwise talented kids were suffering from rejection. Susan focuses solely on admissions, scholarship, and grad-level personal statement essays. Through the Socratic method, she says, she is able to draw out many events, experiences, and strengths that students might not otherwise think of. Once these are identified, it is an easier process to select from among the essay option(s) that are provided.  Susan then works with each client through drafts until they have an essay that is organized, compelling, fully polished, and in a tone and style that will make them memorable.
