Law School Personal Statement

While studying law was not one of my childhood dreams, I always wanted to be in a profession that would have a positive impact on the society. The idealism was triggered by my background, where I grew up in a Hispanic setup where the majority of people did not have citizenship status. However, I was not aware of the issue and its implications until I was ten, where my mother along with our family received U.S. Citizenship. I remember her anxiousness opening the envelope and the tears of joy that followed when she finally read the letter to us.  Although I did not specifically see myself pursuing a law course in future, the evening sparked a desire to engage in endeavors that improve humanity. The drive and passion to help others increased as I grew older. I began to have a better understanding of life as nearly everyone does. I began noticing that my family had actually been fortunate to obtain a citizenship, as many of my friends alongside their families did not have a legal status.
